Tianna Arata: 20-year-old college student, activist, and community organizer, now faces eight charges including five felonies and three misdemeanors for organizing a peaceful protest in San Luis Obispo. WITI is asking our members to show support by taking action in the following ways:
- Appear in person (if available) at the San Luis Obispo Courthouse at 7:30 am on September 3rd for her arraignment

Sign the open letter demanding that Dan Dow drops all charges against Tianna
Tianna's future is at stake over her decision to exercise first amendment rights, further highlighting the abuse of police power that disproportionally impacts black, indigenous, and other people of color. This landmark case brings San Luis Obispo county under a national spotlight, representing the enduring fight against America's system of racial discrimination that led to George Floyd's murder this year -- the focus of the protest Tianna organized.
WITI fully supports the Free Tianna Coalition. As part of our mission to empower innovators and build inclusive communities, we stand with Tianna on a local level in calls to drop all charges against her. On an international level, we denounce violations of democracy that stifle voices speaking out against oppression. We as a global community unify to hold America's justice system accountable for its weaponization of the police against community members.
