Heather Meeker is a communications, marketing and business development executive with a strong focus in mobile and social media. She is currently Vice President of Corporate Communications for Los Angeles-based startup GOGII - makers of the leading free messaging app textPlus.

Most recently, Heather was Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications for Pelago, makers of the location-based app Whrrl. There, she oversaw the company's marketing, communication and community strategies, and served as the west coast business development liaison. Pelago was acquired by Groupon in April 2011.

Heather has over 15 years working for well-known technology companies and startups in a myriad of roles. She began her career working in communications and marketing for EarthLink and held similar roles at Stamps.com and Homestore.com (now Move.com). After the dot com bust, she transitioned intao pharmaceutical sales at Pfizer, selling blockbuster drugs including Zithromax, Lipitor and Viagra. Despite success, Heather knew her passion was technology and communications, so she transitioned back into both as PR Manager for Yahoo helping launch "Project Panama" - the company's search marketing initiative. After Yahoo, she managed Burson Marsteller's Consumer Technology Practice, working with high-profile clients including Sony Ericsson and HP.

An active leader in the technology and start-up community nationwide, Heather speaks at industry leading events regularly including BlogWorld Expo, Social Media Club, Girls in Tech and WITI. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications and Journalism from her hometown school, Fresno State.
