Code for America (CfA) is a non-partisan, non-political, non-profit organization that enlists the talent of the web industry into public service to use their skills to solve core problems facing communities. CfA projects provide a way for technological solutions to infiltrate old, off-line ways of doing things, and bring Internet speed and agility to the platform of government. Successes include an app that reduces a telephone directory-sized book about Boston schools into an interactive tool for parents to zero in on schools for their children. This session showcases Code for America Founder's Jennifer Pahlka, and Director of Community Organizing Catherine Bracy, to discuss how this inspiration became a significant reality - and how it's continuing to change government for the better, with tech and geeks.
