Myra Nawabi is a Senior Project Engineer at Lockheed Martin Space Systems, working with rocket scientists to develop next-generation space equipment. Originally from Kabul, Afghanistan, as a young refugee to the U.S. she found many challenges as well as opportunities. Taking advantage of available access to education, her first instinct was to give back as an educator by teaching middle school students the joy of mathematics. Ms. Nawabi currently facilitates the largest Lean In circle in Northern California, allowing her to indulge in two of her passions at once: help women to increase their self-confidence, and give back to her community.

Ms. Nawabi holds a BA in Liberal Studies and an MS in Educational Leadership from California State University, East Bay, with minors in Mathematics and History and options in Early Childhood Development and Urban Teacher Leadership.
