EMC Unveils Record-breaking Storage Innovations
Storage Leader Kicks off 2011 with Storage Industry's Largest Ever Product Launch
On January 18, 2011, EMC made history with the company's biggest product launch to date. The industry leader announced an enormous wave of record-breaking storage systems, technologies, and new capabilities which reinforced to the market, and to their customers, that EMC is a clear leader in storage innovation and in a great position to help other organizations handle the massive information growth being driven by new trends in IT - including the transition to cloud computing and the management of BIG DATA.
One of the biggest aspects of this announcement was the introduction of the VNX family of products, designed to help companies of every size manage their information more simply, more efficiently, and with more power than ever before.
The announcement undoubtedly proves EMC's leadership in IT innovation, but it was also a testament to the company's new marketing leadership, under the direction of the newly appointed CMO, Jeremy Burton. The day was comprised of three "mega launch" events in New York City, London, and Singapore, and included several world-record breakings, including a group of contortionists piling into a Mini Cooper and a motorcycle jump over 40 EMC storage arrays.
For more information on the product announcement, read the press release on EMC's website, or watch the video footage of the record-breaking launch event.
EMC & WITI - Champions for Women in Technology
EMC is an information company which believes that developing top leaders is as important as pioneering technological innovation. EMC was founded in 1979 in Newton, Massachusetts and over the past 30 years it has grown into one of the world's leading Information Technology companies. Today, EMC employs approximately 40,000 people worldwide and houses operations in approximately 60 countries. EMC prides itself on its diverse workforce, and is committed to creating an environment of inclusion that has multiple dimensions - cross-geography, cross-organization, and across gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and race.
To help employees further their development and embrace their diversity, EMC offers a number of Employee Circles that are supported and funded by the leadership team, and run by EMC employees themselves. These affinity groups provide employees the opportunity to participate and self-lead by arranging social, educational, and philanthropic programs for their colleagues. Additionally, the circles allow employees to share their personal experiences and collective talents, while offering the benefits of career development, retention, and productivity improvement.
One of these employee circles, the Women's Leadership Forum (WLF) was founded in 2001 initially as a way for EMC women to network and develop their professional skills. Over the past nine years, the group has grown to approximately 1,500 members - both women and men!
In 2009, a new chapter was added to the WLF, called the Field Women's Leadership Forum (FWLF), for members of EMC whose roles are in the field. The mission of the FWLF is "to create a community within EMC that helps identify the actions we need to commit to as a field organization to assure that we can recruit the most talented women at all levels, keep women engaged and challenged, and provide women with development and advancement opportunities." In an industry where field roles have historically been dominated by men, programs such as this help EMC develop talent and promote diversity in the field.

EMC and Social Responsibility
EMC believes that a company's prosperity depends on an economically vital, inclusive, and educated society as well as on a healthy environment. Therefore, the company strives to make decisions and operate the business in a sustainable way. Not only do they continuously strive to minimize the environmental impact of their business operations, but the company also works with partners, customers, and suppliers to realize innovative ways of using IT to enable an information-rich, low-carbon economy that minimizes reliance on physical resources. One way the company is doing this is through its development of private cloud technologies which will transform IT into a highly efficient and flexible service that will enable powerful efficiencies in power and cooling technology. In 2010, EMC was ranked 19 on the 100 Best Corporate Citizens List by Corporate Responsibility Magazine. (source: http://www.emc.com/about/news/press/2010/20100311-01.htm)
