Valentina Quiroga Fonseca is a scientist from Colombia, currently exploring opportunities to connect industry with academia and gender equality. Valentina became familiar with WITI during her fellowship at Solarea Bio, a microbiome Boston-based biotech startup focused on metabolic diseases. Being constantly on the lookout for allies committed to supporting and empowering girls and women to reach their highest potential, and inspired by the stories and journeys of several female leaders in her orbit, she joined WITI and decided to launch the WITI Colombia Chapter.

Valentina graduated with two bachelor degrees in Physics and Geosciences with a minor in German Language and Culture from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. For years, Valentina’s leadership service has focused on empowerment of women in STEM through public speaking for Fundación Mujeres por Colombia, Junior Achievement of Northern New England,, Rotary Club Colombia, WEST (Women in the Enterprise of Science and Technology) and Women org, among other organizations.

Valentina Quiroga Fonseca es Física y Geocientífica egresada y becaria del programa Quiero Estudiar de la Universidad de los Andes, con opción en Lengua y Cultura Alemana. Actualmente, se encuentra explorando oportunidades de unir academia e industria desde una perspectiva de género. Valentina conoció a WITI durante su estancia de investigación en Solarea Bio, un startup de biotecnología en Boston MA, USA. Procurando establecer una red global de aliadas y aliados comprometidos por la equidad de género y la inclusión; ella se unión a WITI y decidió fundar el capítulo de WITI Colombia.

Durante años, su activismo y liderazgo se han enfocado en inspirar y acompañar el camino para que más jóvenes mujeres se involucren en campos STEM. Esto, mediante charlas y voluntariados con varias organizaciones nacionales e internacionales como Fundación Mujeres por Colombia, WEST (Women in the Enterprise of Science and Technology), Junior Achievement of Northern New England (Fundación Junior Achievement del Norte de Nueva Inglaterra), Rotary Club, Women org, entre otras.
