In 2019, 20.9% of global boards included women directors and 26.1% in the U.S. alone. Currently all S&P 500 boards have at least one female director, although the overall boardroom diversity still leaves women underrepresented. Progress is slow and will take until 2023 before equal gender representation is achieved on Fortune 500 boards.
