First Thing Tuesday @ ING Café : Fraud Prevention and Detection for IT Professionals

WITI Chicago invites you to join in the conversation at First Thing Tuesday at the ING Café for an informal discussion and meeting. Our presenter Sandra Rolnicki will present on the timely topic of Fraud Detection and Prevention. Exploring the topic with the viewpoint of 'How can you help your company minimize losses due to fraud?'

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (“ACFE”) estimates that the typical U.S. organization loses 7% of its annual revenues to fraudulent activities. IT professionals are uniquely positioned to assist in detecting and even preventing these activities. Based on 10+ years of internal audit and fraud investigation experience, Ms. Rolnicki will use a case study format to define fraud; describe how fraudsters exploit systems to enable their schemes; identify “red flags” or indicators of fraud; and provide examples of detective and preventive controls that could help reduce opportunity for fraud.

Sandra J.H. Rolnicki is a Senior Vice President with the Global Internal Audit group of Jones Lang LaSalle, Inc. (“JLL”), a global financial and professional services firm specializing in real estate. She manages operational, financial, IT and Sarbanes-Oxley related reviews in domestic and international JLL locations. She leads her department’s anti-fraud practice through education of company management and participation in internal fraud investigations. Ms. Rolnicki holds degrees from Northwestern University in Industrial Engineering (BSIE ‘94) and Information Technology (MSIT ‘03). She is also a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Information Systems Auditor and is studying to achieve the Certified Fraud Examiner designation.
