Musical Chairs: Managing the Impact of Change

It’s a mistake to think that people resist change. How can that be if the only constant is, that things will change? The reality is that people don’t necessarily resist change; it’s just that they aren’t given sufficient reason as to why the change is happening. More importantly, they likely don’t know the who, the what, the where, and the how of going forward. Like musical chairs, business is often about the music suddenly stopping and employees metaphorically, finding a place to sit. What’s it take to effectively manage the change? What should a leader know about getting their people through a change intact and with as little disruption as possible? What about changes you don’t want to make? How do you deal with Survivor Syndrome? These questions and others are addressed in Musical Chairs: Managing the Impact of Change.
