Our Venture Capital panelist is Dorothy Pavloff, a Director with California Technology Ventures, a $50M early stage venture capital firm based in Pasadena. Ms. Pavloff focuses on the firm’s information technology and communications investments.

Ms Pavloff was previously a Manager of Business Development at Conexant Systems where she supervised development and strategic planning for Conexant's $600 million modem and home networking product division and helped spin out Conexant from Rockwell Corporation.

Ms. Pavloff was also with Hughes Electronics in its New Ventures Organization, focusing on developing partnerships to enable satellite assets to integrate into Internet infrastructure. Before that, she was part of the technical staff at the MTIRE Corporation, an organization that provides large-scale systems engineering, research and development, and information technology support to the federal government.

Ms. Pavloff has a B.A. in Economics from Boston College and an M.B.A. from Boston University. She is a board observer for E Team, Inc., DolphinSearch, Inc., and Agile Materials & Technologies.

Our banker will be Joanna Bruno, founder and President of JR Bruno & Associates in Glendora, which works with banks and lending institutions to maximize the effectiveness of their Small Business Administration (SBA) loan divisions.

Ms. Bruno previously served as Vice President/SBA Manager of Foothill Independent Bank, where she established a small business-lending center specializing in SBA loans. Before joining Foothill, she served as VP of Caliber Business Credit, a division of Valley Bank of Nevada, where she established a regional commercial lending profit center for Southern California that was recognized as the top California loan production office.

Prior to this, GlenFed Business Lending Services hired Ms. Bruno to reorganize the bank's statewide small business commercial lending division. She also served as Business Development Director at The Money Store Investment Corporation, where she developed and implemented a marketing strategy that resulted in the company becoming the region's leading SBA lender.

Ms. Bruno has successfully helped generate $500 million for more than 1000 business owners! She is the White House appointee to the SBA's Advisory Council for the Los Angeles District Office. She is a frequent public speaker and a member of many women and business support organizations.
