WORK WARS: Can men, women, life and work ever peacefully coexist?

Women want careers, and they want lives. Men want careers, and they want lives. So what's the problem? Why is it so hard for women to be taken seriously at work - and why is it so hard to get men to come home? Are men and women destined to a lifetime's fight for time, attention, fair pay and a life? What does the future of work look like -- and how can we make it look brighter?

Join Margaret Heffernan, Michael Kimmel, and John Byrne as they discuss the differences and similarities of men and women's lives, where they conflict, how they can support each other - and what those themes portend for the way we live and work. Can men and women ever find common ground?

Cocktail Reception will following the discussion. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served.

Featured Speaker(s)

MARGARET HEFFERNAN, author of The Naked Truth: A Working Woman's Manifesto, has been outspoken in revealing the obstacles that women still encounter at work. CEO of several technology companies and mother of two, she knows what it takes to have a life, have a job - and, just occasionally, stay sane.

MICHAEL KIMMEL, Professor of Sociology at State University, New York studies men and the impact women's changing role in the world has on men.

Their discussion is moderated by JOHN BYRNE, Editor-in-Chief of Fast Company magazine. Fast Company published Margaret Heffernan's cover story, "The Female CEO, C.2002" - which caused the firestorm that resulted in her book.
