Karen Pope, MA, BSN, RN is a clinical informatics program manager at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA. Her clinical background includes direct patient care and nursing leadership within both the acute care and ambulatory psychiatric mental health settings. She transitioned to Nursing Informatics in the late 1990’s to lead design and implementation of a multidisciplinary electronic treatment plan/care plan enterprise initiative through which she discovered her passion regarding the use of technology to improve patient outcomes as well as the clinician experience. Karen is both a technical builder and a process expert who specializes in translating complex workflows for clinician consumption.

She has worked on numerous significant healthcare information technology implementations including electronic physician order entry, closed loop medication administration/barcode scanning, Meaningful Use, Core Measures, fetal monitoring, organ donation, and telehealth. Her work on super user utilization and infection prevention solutions have been presented nationally.

Recognized as a Rising Woman in Technology by AWT, Karen writes a column for ANIA’s (American Nursing Informatics Association’s) official publication, the Journal of Informatics Nursing and is the 2021 vice president for the American Nursing Informatics Association SoCal chapter. She is certified in multiple electronic health care records and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California at Davis, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Creighton University, and a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Development from Brandman University.

Jeff Fung, Information Technology Leader with over 25 years’ experience building world-class teams and process, and delivering enterprise business solutions that improve the top and bottom line with the last 9 years in a senior leadership role. Experienced with designing and delivering solution for B2B, B2C, B2B2C, and international business. He has been an IT leader in different size organizations from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Jeff has lead rollout of ERP system to standardize business process across the company which lead to subsequence process re-engineering efforts reducing operationally expenses. He has lead multiple business process re-engineering initiatives introducing and leveraging technology to provide automation and gain efficiency resulting in cost savings.

Jeff is a technology leader combining strategic vision with tactical execution to implement new technology. Implemented Agile development methodology providing a more adaptable and dynamic software development and release cycles. Introduced and lead team on R&D and implementation of mobile applications to support changing customer needs.
