5G-The Next Generation in Wireless

Presenter: Jo Ann Tan - Vice President, Head of Infrastructure at The Hartford
5G is the 5th generation mobile network architected to offer performance, efficiency and reliability that far exceeds predecessor technologies. Applied in insurance, it offers the ability to maximize the use of the Internet of Things (IoT) enabling more real-time data to not only inform risk calculations, but more importantly mitigate/reduce the impact of catastrophes. Futurists foresee that a widespread deployment of 5G can enable preventative systems on farms, homes, warehouses, vehicles, etc. to advise on meteorological risks and disasters as well as a far more rapid response to insurance claims.

In this webinar, you will learn:

- Brief history of wireless networking and the progression of capabilities toward 5G
- 5G's role in enabling the Internet of Things (IoT)
- Relationship of 5G, IoT and Cloud Edge Computing
