Companies are being asked to quantify and reduce corporate energy use and environmental footprints, streamline supply chains, meet regulatory requirements and drive more energy-efficient operations. In short, organizations are being driven to adopt ‘green’ strategies. IT departments play a pivotal role in developing company’s direction with a green strategy and are therefore taking on projects to adopt newer technologies and update IT infrastructure in a manner that will impact the entire organization. IT is faced with the daunting task of streamlining network traffic, upgrading back-office systems, improving data center operations, and enabling virtualization without disrupting operations.
