The wisdom that "nothing worthwhile comes easily" perfectly characterizes my experience building WITI, and WITI's first conference was no exception. The challenges we faced were probably routine for most conference pros, but because we had never put on a conference before, they were often quite daunting. The amount of space Stanford had originally told us was available was reduced considerably due to a scheduling conflict, so we had to move to the Santa Clara Convention Center. It's unheard of to find a first-class facility available only 3 months before an event, but we did.     Attention Project Managers: Invitation to Participate in WITI Member's Innovative Research

    As a member of the technology community, you have the opportunity to participate in a brief survey designed to understand the interaction between project managers and their project sponsors during a project implementation. This important, innovative research is being conducted by a WITI member who is a researcher at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Your project experience is a key part of the study. To participate, you will be asked to complete a short survey sometime between November 15, 2003 and February 1, 2004. The survey will take less then 15 minutes to complete. You will receive a copy of the completed research results if you participate.

    If you would like to participate, please email Pat Sahm. The survey will either be emailed to you, or if you prefer you will be directed to a web site to complete it.

    Metropolitan Water District of Southern California presents the 2nd Annual Networking & Training Event

    The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California is holding its second annual Networking & Training event which will be held at our office at 700 North Alameda Street, Los Angeles between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2003. At this event, vendors will be able to:

    Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing
    This Boston-based $80 million, privately held managed network services firm, offers services that provide customers with comprehensive solutions to cover a network's life cycle - from network assessment and strategizing, through deployment and on-going management. They are currently searching for a Sr. VP, Sales & Marketing who will report to the CEO and be: An officer of the Company; Responsible for the overall strategy and objectives for global sales and marketing operations; A diversity leader who thinks out-of-the-box, adding value both across the organization and, in particular, in developing new services that meet customer requirements; Managing, motivating and leading a direct and indirect sales group (20 plus 40 SEs), and a marketing team (20) to grow the business from $80 million to $200 million in the next 2 years.

    The ideal sales and marketing candidate will have a minimum of fifteen years expeirience in progressively more responsible positions managing direct and indirect sales, channel operations, and marketing in IT/network management copmanies with highly engineered products and services. Ideally this individual has been: A CEO and/or had P&L experince offering a breadth of leadership experience across all functions; A proven track record in managing sales and marketing teams to achieve revenue growth; Passionate about the IT industry, bringing an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to establish professional management processes and controls without diminishing the entrepreneurial culture of the organization; Selling to the senior levels of the customer organizations and build profitable relationships by developing service offerings that will address the overall requirements of the customer.
