WITI South Florida Regional Network
The Green Energy Data Center

Wednesday, August 20, 2014
6:00 pm

In coming years, the data center industry will face growing pressure to find workable ways to integrate renewable energy sources into projects. The demand is driven by the need for improved efficiency, the growth of corporate social responsibility programs and the potential for U.S. federal legislation that will place caps on carbon emissions. Our speaker will discuss the promising new developments in renewable energy technology for the data center, as well as his latest venture in clean energy research at the Kennedy Space Center.

About Our Speaker(s)

Traver Kennedy

Traver is Chairman and CEO of Joi Scientifi, an emerging leader in clean air, energy and water technologies. Joi Scientific and its sister company Molecular Power Systems LLC are partnered with NASA and Space Florida. At the request of President Obama, the companies' operations are located at the Space Life Science Laboratory at the Kennedy Space Center in facilities previous used for the preparation of the experiments for the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station.

A technology and social entrepreneur, Traver is ranked by Network World magazine as one of the “25 Most Powerful People” in computer networking (along with Bill Gates, John Chambers and Michael Dell). The World Economic Forum named him a Technology Pioneer for his contributions to technology and society. His diverse business and humanitarian projects range from ancient forest preservation in Ghana and coral reef protection in Haiti with One Village Planet; to establishing the world’s first Cyber Sister Cities to improve education, health and economic opportunities in developing communities with Sister Cities International; to the strategy creating global software leader Citrix Systems; to pioneering the application service provider (ASP) movement ushering in the online cloud computing era. Kennedy served as Chief Strategist at Citrix Systems where he played a significant role in the company’s post-‐IPO growth to become one of the world’s largest software companies joining the S&P 500 and the NASDAQ 100. In 2000, at the height of the Dotcom bust, Citrix had the highest EBITDA (47%) of any company listed on NASDAQ. As founder and Chair of the ASP Industry Consortium, he established the ASP Arbitration, Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center created in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a division of the United Nations. The effort resulted in one of the largest public/private partnerships in the history of the UN with 800 of the world’s leading technology corporations and 175 signatory nations participating.
